New Year Page

It's been a time to recharge my inner energy, particularly my creative energy. I've been reflecting on the past year and formulating goals or plans for 2007. My good friend, Mel, gifted me with this wonderful blank book that she designed and I have it filled up already with my notes and collaged images. Throughout the pages I allowed myself to be spontateous and loose as I pasted in pictures, drawings and text. Whatever grabbed my attention for more than a minute was torn, cut and permanently set in this book. Page after page was just random ideas and incohesive ideas or inspirations. After I had something on each page I went back in and wrote journal entries. Who says journals have to be tidy, chronilogical and organized? What this little journal did for me was give me a place to let go of all my feelings and play around with ideas.

In the meantime, a dish of blackeyed peas is a New Year's tradition in most areas of the South, thought to bring luck and prosperity for the new year. The "chef" has his soaking in a bowl and later we'll feast on one more meal of holiday goodness. I told him he needs his own blog in 2007, don't you think so? We could call it "my wife hates to cook"!

Hi Sharon,
Your gifted journal is wonderful. I think it is creating with no expectations of the end results that feels so liberating. I love it too.
